The Pitch: An innovative home phone that combines access to internet content and popular wireless phone applications with traditional home phone service. Using a portable, seven-inch color touch screen frame, AT&T HomeManager provides one-touch access from anywhere in the home to a robust lineup of popular features and content, including visual voice mail, weather reports, and e-mail e station, information is sent directly to the cordless touch screen, delivering quick and easy access, local news, a portable speakerphone, and more.

Pros: The HomeManager lets you make your calls over wired or VOIP, and synchs up your address books across your AT&T home phone, mobile phone, and the HomeManager. If you are completely wired into the world of AT&T, this is a product that tries to connect all of the pieces. It also acts as a digital photo frame if you want it to. The range of features is impressive.

Cons: The HomeManager may be trying to do too much for AT&T customers. It also seems a little archaic when you consider how many people are switching from land lines to mobile phones, anyhow. It is priced too high for non-AT&T customers who may not benefit from all of its features in any case.

Recommendation: This may be a great product for someone who values convenience. You get a bunch of basic broadband services bundled with the integration of services across your AT&T phones, and all managed through a simple wireless handheld device around the house. However, there are a lot of cooler and much more flexible devices that can offer similar appeal without the tethering you to one carrier. I do not believe the HomeManager should go on in the competition.

Our Host: Robin Raskin

How it works:

We welcome any and all 'hot' products slated to appear at CES. Our experts screen them. They'll continue to narrow the list until we get to a Top 25 and then a Top 10. We'll also conduct a online vote among the Top 25 to determine a "people's winner." The Top 10 will appear at a CES supersession where a live voting audience will determine which deserves to be the Last Gadget Standing.

When: Saturday, 10:30 a.m., Jan. 9, 2010

Where: Room N255-257, LVCC, North Hall, 2010 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
