The Pitch: For once, wireless really does mean zero wires. Sennheiser’s space-age earbuds boast space-age looks, minimal setup, and multi-receiver capabilities, but in the end they’re all about the music. We’re talking CD-quality, uncompressed sound.
Pros: Kleer’s wireless system blows Bluetooth out of the water, and the MX W1 carry case doubles as a portable recharging system. Expect 3-4 hours of use from a single charge, and you can repeat that up to three times using the case.
Cons: Though Bluetooth may be technologically inferior to the Sennheiser’s brand of wireless, it’s pretty much ubiquitous: With the MX W1s, you’re stuck with the transmitter dongle. Oh, and the price; don’t expect to get much change from $500.
Recommendation: They’re expensive, but if you put equal value on complete wireless freedom and expect the best from your sound system, there’s little to compete with the MX W1s. For that fact alone, they deserve to move forward.
