The Pitch: Plantronics has designed a Bluetooth wireless headset that is just as tough as all of those cool-looking, rugged cell phones that you see being used by construction workers and adventuresome people in general. The 370 has a tough plastic and rubber exterior that meets MIL-SPEC standards for water, dust, and shock resistance, and it features a special wind filter for outdoor use. Its rechargeable battery is good for up to 7 hours of talk time, and it sells for a reasonable $79.95.
Pros: It’s one tough headset. I had one of these in the office for quite some time, and it really seemed solid.
Cons: It’s one ugly headset. I had one of these in the office for quite some time, and it made me cringe whenever I looked at it.
Recommendation: While I think there is a real market for tough headsets to go along with all of the rugged phones in use out in the world, I just don’t think there is enough gee-whiz factor in this device to get it to the next level of the Last Gadget Standing competition.
