The Pitch: You see the bullets and hear the bullets in your favorite games. Now you can feel the bullets — kinda. TN Games’ new 3rd Space Vest is meant to add a bit of physical reality to PC gaming — especially first-person shooters. The vest has 8 air cells that can be rapidly inflated to simulate the position and intensity of bullet fire, explosions, and other damage your in-game avatar might be taking. It has support for over 20 games, including Call of Duty 4 and 5, Doom 3, Quake 4, and World of Warcraft, and it comes with Call of Duty 2 and a home-grown game in the box. The vest is available in black, camouflage, and pink and is priced at $169.99.

Pros: While it won’t necessarily make you play better, it certainly could add to your enjoyment when playing games with your buddies. The price seems fairly reasonable, too.

Cons: Wearing it is almost certainly not going to help you attract the opposite sex. Plus, you’ve got to attach it to not only your computer (via USB), but you also have to stay tethered to the air compressor unit.

Recommendation:
I’m all for anything that makes PC gaming more reaslistic, yet doesn’t riddle me with bullets or otherwise draw blood. I’m willing to give the 3rd Space Vest the nod for the next round of Last Gadget Standing.

How it works:

We welcome any and all 'hot' products slated to appear at CES. Our experts screen them. They'll continue to narrow the list until we get to a Top 25 and then a Top 10. We'll also conduct a online vote among the Top 25 to determine a "people's winner." The Top 10 will appear at a CES supersession where a live voting audience will determine which deserves to be the Last Gadget Standing.

When: Saturday, 10:30 a.m., Jan. 9, 2010

Where: Room N255-257, LVCC, North Hall, 2010 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
