The Pitch: If you’ve seen the difference between an OLED screen and an LCD screen you’ve seen that OLED produces more accurate colors, higher contrast, and wider viewing angles. That’s the big breakthrough in the Pocket Album Deluxe, a 2.8-inch (320 x 240) photo viewer. The Pocket Album Deluxe OLED 2.8 holds over 4,000 digital photos with its 128MB internal flash memory. The frame offers thumbnail views, some simple photo organization tools, and even has a built-in clock and calendar. (The calendar is an overlay on top of your photos.) Priced at $99 and on sale now.
Pros: OLED displays a very high contrast picture and the unit, offered in a number of colors, is attractive.
Cons: The clock should have an alarm and the calendar should store appointments in order to be really useful. Some reviews complain about battery recharge time. The only way to transfer images is via USB mini connection, not an SD card.
Recommendation: OLED is a great addition to the picture frame world but we’ll pass for now.
