The Pitch: Like the original Eye-Fi, the Eye-Fi Explore card automatically uploads photos wirelessly to your favorite photo sites or to your computer, moments after you shoot the picture. In addition, the Eye-Fi Explore automatically geotags your photos with information about where a photo was taken and can now upload from any Wayport hotspot (of which there are more than 10,000) or open wireless network.

Pros: Like its predecessor, it automatically uploads your pictures wirelessly. There’s no need to use a USB cable or cradle as the SD card that stores the picture is also the transport mechanism for getting your pictures to the internet. It also includes geotagging (via a partnership with Skyhook Wireless), so your photos can be searched based on location, without any additional software.

Cons: Price — it’s $129 for a 2GB SD card. Also, it’s going to consumer more of your camera’s power since it’s connecting via Wi-Fi.

Recommendation: I recommend that the Eye-Fi Explore Card move forward in the competition. Not only does it wirelessly upload your photos but now it geotags them, too.

Our Host: Robin Raskin
...is a veteran tech journalist and founder of Living in Digital Times. She created Last Gadget Standing.

How it works:

We welcome any and all 'hot' products slated to appear at CES. Our experts screen them. They'll continue to narrow the list until we get to a Top 25 and then a Top 10. We'll also conduct a online vote among the Top 25 to determine a "people's winner." The Top 10 will appear at a CES supersession where a live voting audience will determine which deserves to be the Last Gadget Standing.

When: Saturday, 10:30 a.m., Jan. 9, 2010

Where: Room N255-257, LVCC, North Hall, 2010 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
