Anyone with aging analog video collections knows that those tapes won’t last forever and the VCR (if you even have one anymore) has one foot in the grave. So there’s no better time than now to make the switch to digital. You could send the tapes off to a processing lab, but if you want to go it alone, the Dazzle Video Creator Plus i there for you.

Connect via USB to your PC, and then plug your analog audio cables, plus composite video or S-Video in the fan shaped end of the device, and you are ready to transfer.

Once you load up your PC with files, it’s time to edit. The Dazzle comes with Pinnacle Studio Version 12 for clipping, mixing sound, adding transitions, and otherwise editing your video. It all seems on the up-and-up, but it would be good to see an example of the resulting video before investing in the Dazzle.

Our Host: Robin Raskin
...is a veteran tech journalist and founder of Living in Digital Times. She created Last Gadget Standing.

How it works:

We welcome any and all 'hot' products slated to appear at CES. Our experts screen them. They'll continue to narrow the list until we get to a Top 25 and then a Top 10. We'll also conduct a online vote among the Top 25 to determine a "people's winner." The Top 10 will appear at a CES supersession where a live voting audience will determine which deserves to be the Last Gadget Standing.

When: Saturday, 10:30 a.m., Jan. 9, 2010

Where: Room N255-257, LVCC, North Hall, 2010 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
