The Pitch: HP rolls a laundry list of features into the limited-edition HP Photosmart C4599 All-in-One printer, including the ability to wirelessly print, scan, and copy. When connected to a wireless network in the home or office the C4599 will work with any computer on the network and offers network scanning. The memory card reader can send images to any network computer, and a smallish 1.5-inch display lets users view photos without using a PC.

Pros: Wireless printing and scanning capability on a wireless network makes for easy printing without wires. Print speeds are fast at up to 30 pages per minute in black and 23 pages per minute in color. Lab-quality 4 x 6 photo prints take only 25 seconds to complete.

Cons: Once you move beyond the wireless printing capability, the HP C4599 printer offers little.

Recommendation: There are scores of printers on today’s market that offer wireless printing capabilities. A quick look at the feature list for the C4599 shows that it has little left once you look beyond wireless printing capability and a reasonable $149 MSRP. For that reason, I can’t recommend the printer move forward in the competition.

Our Host: Robin Raskin
...is a veteran tech journalist and founder of Living in Digital Times. She created Last Gadget Standing.

How it works:

We welcome any and all 'hot' products slated to appear at CES. Our experts screen them. They'll continue to narrow the list until we get to a Top 25 and then a Top 10. We'll also conduct a online vote among the Top 25 to determine a "people's winner." The Top 10 will appear at a CES supersession where a live voting audience will determine which deserves to be the Last Gadget Standing.

When: Saturday, 10:30 a.m., Jan. 9, 2010

Where: Room N255-257, LVCC, North Hall, 2010 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
