If you had asked someone what Palm was up to a week ago, they might well have answered, “gasping for air.” But everything changed after the company’s press conference, in which it unveiled its latest phone, the Pre, as well as a new operating system, WebOS.
As Luigi Lugmayr of I4U News explains, Palm is “really back in the game” with the curvy new phone, after several years of coasting on the Treo line’s success and the disappointment of its last OS. He goes on to say that unlike earlier OSes, “webOS leverages several industry-standard technologies, including web technologies such as CSS, XHTML and JavaScript.” It also boasts an impressive set of the latest innovations in cells, such as a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, Wi-Fi, GPS, a touchsreen, and more.
