The Pitch: The emWave PSR is an affordable, portable biofeedback tool. Made by HeartMath, it is an effective and convenient way to reduce stress, balance emotions, and increase performance. The emWave PSR uses colorful LED displays, audio feedback, and a powerful stress-relief technique to help you relax and increase your feelings of well-being. It features four challenge levels, adjustable brightness, adjustable audio-feedback levels, Advanced user mode, The Coherence Coach CD, and is available in silver or metallic blue.

Pros: Several people have visited FixYa looking for personal biofeedback machines, but have been warned about the high price of equipment. Priced at $199.99, the emWave PSR brings biofeedback to the masses. It’s a pared-down version of the emWave PC, but has a couple parts that the original didn’t – like the ear-pulse sensor and breathing pacer. It’s also just a really cool product that’s both fun and beneficial.

Cons: The PSR doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of the emWave PC, but then it also costs about $100 less. As opposed to the PC’s beautiful representations of your pulse wave and heart rate, the PSR has only a digital display. It also doesn’t have the frequency spectrum summaries, the interactive games, or the ability to review your progress from one session to another that the emWave PC has.

Recommendation: I think that the emWave PSR should move forward to Last Gadget Standing. CES attendees surely experience their fair share of stress (particularly while traveling to the convention!) and the portable PSR should be a hit with gadgetphiles.

All these comments might sound like crazy marketing pawns sent from HeartMath but the emWave is really legit. I totally believe what these people are saying because I've experienced it too on a very powerful level. I've actually been using it for 2 years and had great results. In fact, the only time I really had problems with it is when I wouldn't use it regularly enough. Not only does it help you manage stress, it helps you manage your emotions. Anyone who has problems with stress or anxiety needs to try the emWave. It's the real deal.

heart maths' e-mWave PSR is one of the most astonishing devices i have seen. If the people I knew had had one of these in the 60's and 70's they probably wouldn't have died of heart attacks!!!!!!!!!Some were doctors......if they'd only known!!!!!
Technology does get better and simpler for the lay people. Thank you for creating this machine......I don't have one but our office NEEDS one and shall investigate funding to obtain one. Thank you, thank you, thank you

The PSR has been a God sent for me. This past year has been most stressful and during the most intense time I have all the more used this technology to calm and strengthen myself. It really has helped me keep on going.
A side note, my beard had been pure white for some years but the natural color is returning. I have made no major diet or lifestyle changes other than intentional consistent usage of the HeartMath PSR technology which seems to be rejuvenating me. So much for bring a Santa Clause in my retirement years.

What Heartmath has done with the emWave ps4 is revolutionary. My boyfriend and I both suffered from chronic pain and anxiety. Both being on medication for years and still having problems we took a leap of faith and both got one. Needless to say we are both off our medicines, and are experiencing joy that we had not yet experienced in adulthood. You might want to get one and try it. People are raving about it because fyi…stress is at an all time high and this little device actually IS the best thing I’ve found for helping to alleviate stress. I don’t meditate and probably never will, so for all of you out there like me that want the benefits of shutting off the constant mind noise and a chance to step outside a crazy world for a few minutes the emWave PSR is the technology for this. Whether they won or not I'm glad to see something that’s really new and different getting so much attention. I hope they win!

Simply wonderful. It actually works and it has reduced my stress a great deal. I barely get anxiety attacks now days because I can stop them before they get too far with the emwave psr!

Everybody should have one of these in their pockets, especially when society is getting more and more stressful every year. It's a great stress relief device and you don't even have to take pills to calm down all you do is use this little thing that's the size of your palm and use breathing techniques!

emWave gets my vote and it will always stay in my handbag because it's a small miracle in my world!

Urk! Only after sending, I noticed a couple of major typos in my earlier review (above). Here, then, is a corrected version, and my apologies for the errors in my earlier comment:

As a consulting R&D scientist and as someone who is a mediator and also interested in emotional self-management, I have used a wide variety of health-related and stress-managment related biofeedback devices over the years, including both the emWave PC and the emWave PSR, and I love both of the emWave devices.

While the emWave PSR does not have all of the features of the emWave PC version, it is also much less expensive, and has lots of very usable features. All in all, I feel that the emWave PSR is an excellent tool for reaching levels of greater relaxation, greater inner peacefulness, greater focus and concentration, and much higher levels of effectiveness and efficiency in dealing with the challenges of life. Please note that each of these benefits which I have listed above goes well beyond the minimalist concept of simply managing stress!

I have one and use it with great succes. It's a really powerful changing tool ! All the gurus, masters etc. say THE UNIVERSE IS LOVE we are LOVE. Learning to use this device is learning the most powerful meditation - love breath. And since Love is the most powerful force in the unvierse you will live happy - free - young healthy :)

I recomand yo anyone ! because you will have a good feedback to know if you really are Love or you are just vegetating not meditating. :))

Stress creeps up unexpectly on the elderly and this device appears to have so many benefits as long as the user is able to understand and be aware of its benefits. Caregivers are known for their stress increasing , especially family to family caregivers, I see alot of potential in marketing this product to assisted living homes throughout Arizona especially Tucson, Az (over 350 home) and outter areas like Benson, AZ.

The emwave PSR is great for reducing stress. Its portability is a great feature, smaller than a cellphone. I like that you don't need a computer to use it (I work on computers all day, I want to get away from them the rest of the time). It is very easy to use. I can feel it working, it really makes me feel better.

Good for those find it difficult to destress, but it tends to break down far too easily. There have been build quality issues. I've been through 3 units in the last couple of years. Also, once you know how to meditate, this becomes redundant. But, it's good for those who are keen on learning how to centre themselves in a hectic environment.

I've been using the emWave PSR device since it first came out. I find it extremely easy to use and the benefits are quite powerful. The doctors say my blood pressure is going down and that is awesome!! I use the emWave at least 3 times a day for 5 minutes each time; once in the morning before work, right after lunch and once in the evening. Sometimes more than that on stressful days, but never less that that. It's a smart little gadget that tracks your breathing pace and heart rhythms! How, I don't know, but it works!
