The Pitch: This new series of Kwikset’s SmartCode keyless entry electronic locks not only locks your door, but it can also communicate wirelessly with other ZigBee Pro devices. So you can check the lock’s status, lock your door remotely, and even turn on the lights when you unlock your door.
Pro: ZigBee wireless for interoperability with many Home Connect products. Remote access via phone or Internet.
Con: Not cheap ($349 MSRP).
Recommendation: If you can control your lights and turn on your heat remotely, why not be able to make sure your home is secure? While it’s significantly more expensive than a plain ol’ lock, home-of-the-future geeks will want this.
