Top 25 BadgeThe Pitch: There’s no shortage of sports-tracking wrist watches and backcountry GPS navigation devices, but the Satsports GPS puts the best sports-related GPS features into one weatherproof device.  It supplies three applications to track eight different sports: SATski for skiing and snowboarding, Pocket Caddy for golf, and Satsports, a general log for running, cycling, mountain biking, hiking, and walking.

Pro: An outdoor sports enthusiast’s dream, the Satsports Multi-GPS device provides real-time stats, maps, and information so you can make the most of your day. Win Mobile and Android phone apps add to its capabilities. Coolest feature: Sync your day’s outing with your PC and watch your progress on Google Earth.

Con: Most casual users will find the device overkill, and the majority of serious users will want a communications device as well.

Recommendation: An appreciated breakthrough, combining the best of sports-tracking GPS, that should find a ready audience with outdoor sports enthusiasts.

Price: $490

This is a skier's dream. If you want to know aything about your skiing day, it will be recorded on your satski for you and all laid out on the trail map at the end of your day. All you have to do is look at the satski or, better yet, download it to your computer. You will see a little dot that is you doing your whole day - all your runs, lift rides (way speeded up), your pub, munchie and potty stops, speed, altitude verticle drop, you name it - it's there. And if your friends call you and say to meet them someplace, you can ping it on the trail map and it will tell you which lifts and runs to take to get there. If you want to avoid blacks, it will do that for you, too. You can also e-mail your day via Google Earth to all of your friends. No more guessing who is faster, not if you and your friends each carry one. GPS doesn't lie. Check it out at www.satsportsgps.com. And one more thing, I have never known a company with better tech support. They are beyond super.

Our Host: Robin Raskin
...is a veteran tech journalist and founder of Living in Digital Times. She created Last Gadget Standing.

How it works:

We welcome any and all 'hot' products slated to appear at CES. Our experts screen them. They'll continue to narrow the list until we get to a Top 25 and then a Top 10. We'll also conduct a online vote among the Top 25 to determine a "people's winner." The Top 10 will appear at a CES supersession where a live voting audience will determine which deserves to be the Last Gadget Standing.

When: Saturday, 10:30 a.m., Jan. 9, 2010

Where: Room N255-257, LVCC, North Hall, 2010 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
