The Pitch: Entourage calls its Edge “the world’s first dualbook,” which is another way of saying it comes in a netbook form factor with a standard LCD display on one half and an e-ink display on the other. To add to the cleverness, the LCD half runs Android to allow you to do all your standard smartphone/netbook tasks such as surfing the web and checking email. The e-ink side can work with a stylus for taking notes and highlighting in addition to reading ebooks.

Pros: It’s the perfect storm of the latest buzzwords for gadget lovers: e-ink, android, and smartphone rolled into one.

Cons: The devil is in the details with gadgets like these, and we won’t know those details until it’s released in February.

Recommendation: An ebook reader tied to a full Android-powered WiFi tablet is certainly intriguing. Will it be vaporware? Will it have decent battery power? Only time will tell.

Price: $490

As a computer programmer this will work perfect for my work. I'll be able to carry around loads of my technical books, take notes on their pages and take notes during meetings. I can put all my technical requirement documents on here as well which is really handy. I like the two screens on this for the same reasons I like to monitors on my computer. This is one awesome device.

As a teacher, I would love the opportunity the Edge provides to share my notes and research with my students. It appears to be VERY user friendly and the only system out there that has all of the necessary components in one product! Very cool!

Our Host: Robin Raskin
...is a veteran tech journalist and founder of Living in Digital Times. She created Last Gadget Standing.

How it works:

We welcome any and all 'hot' products slated to appear at CES. Our experts screen them. They'll continue to narrow the list until we get to a Top 25 and then a Top 10. We'll also conduct a online vote among the Top 25 to determine a "people's winner." The Top 10 will appear at a CES supersession where a live voting audience will determine which deserves to be the Last Gadget Standing.

When: Saturday, 10:30 a.m., Jan. 9, 2010

Where: Room N255-257, LVCC, North Hall, 2010 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
