It’s been a long time coming, but we have two winners to announce for the Last Gadget Standing competition.

Drum roll, please….

And the winners are — The SHOWWX Laser Pico Projector for the online vote, and the D-Link Boxee Box for the live competition.

The D-link Boxee Box appears to be a mild-mannered cube settling slightly askew, but don’t let its looks deceive you — it’s a multimedia mastermind. Not only will it take all your videos from your PC and the web, it also lets you watch thousands of movies for free. A cool little remote/keyboard makes it easy to use too.

But how did it win? The first winner was voted into victory in a live competition at CES, beating nine other finalists at the event. The annual Last Gadget Standing competition is a live event where ten gadgets duke it out for consumers’ affection. Bloggers in the NetShelter Network reviewed a slew of products, and narrowed the list to ten gadgets that represent the most relevant products to consumers’ lives, as well as the directions the consumer electronics industry is headed. At the standing-room-only competition, each of the finalists gave a four-minute demonstration of their products to the live audience, who then voted for the gadget they felt was the best.

After all of the finalists gave their presentations, all of the products were introduced again, while a sound meter measured the applause of the crowd. Though it was a close race — there was even a runoff — the Boxee elicited the most claps and cheers, catapulting it into first place.

But that was not the only winner at the show. The SHOWWX projector took home the online prize, garnering the most votes from our online readers. This stunning product lets you take your projector anywhere you like. The size of a cell phone, the bright Pico projector won’t weight you down, and it lets you present a presentation, project images, or play movies virtually anywhere. No wonder it took the online vote by storm.

One note about the voting: Voting ended last night at 12 a.m. precisely. We kept the polls open so people could still visit the voting page, but the winner was determined by the number of votes at midnight. See below for the results captured at midnight last night.

Congratulations to both of the winners, and to all of the other Last Gadget Standing competitors.

How it works:

We welcome any and all 'hot' products slated to appear at CES. Our experts screen them. They'll continue to narrow the list until we get to a Top 25 and then a Top 10. We'll also conduct a online vote among the Top 25 to determine a "people's winner." The Top 10 will appear at a CES supersession where a live voting audience will determine which deserves to be the Last Gadget Standing.

When: Saturday, 10:30 a.m., Jan. 9, 2010

Where: Room N255-257, LVCC, North Hall, 2010 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
