Swivl is an unprecedented video device that allows you to capture your movements on your mobile device, hands free. Holding your iPhone, iPod Touch, Flip or GoPro, it can follow both horizontally and vertically to keep you in the frame, using a sensor marker. Swivl can hold iPhones, iPod Touches, Android phones under 11mm in thickness and is tripod compatible for mountable pocket cameras like Flip and GoPro. The video controls via marker are compatible with iPhone 4, 4s and 4th Gen iPod Touch. Apple devices can be charged while in Swivl.

JUDGE’S REMARKS

Swivl is a one of kind gadget that turns you into your own smartphone based camera crew. Place your phone or mobile camera like a Flip into the Swivl docking station and put the “green dot” on your body.

The Swivl base detects the dot sensor and swivels and tilts your camera to follow you around. Use it to film your own video blogs, to talk on Skype while tidying the bedroom, to film the kids at play. The company spokesperson, a unique life vlogger, Shay Carl, has a knack for bringing out the vote, but the judges thought the products was clearly a one of a kind, too.

What we like: unique product,

What we don’t like: the green dot, don’t know the range

I can’t even imagine something like this. I want one! It will be so much easier to film my grandkids learning to walk, etc. Great idea!

Quite simply, a wonderful, effective, and very necessary product. Think of the applications, particularly for vloggers. Or reporters (why send 2 people to report on something when one will do, accompanied by a dedicated, friendly Swivl?!)

Just a very cool product.

The great thing about this product is that it can eliminate the need for multiple people being involved in filming and production, albeit on a small scale. One step forward for independence! :D

Creative! Will usher in a new DIY era of broadcast journalism. So simple, such an elegant solution. I want one to video record my lectures so I don’t have to be frozen to a podium!

2013 Press Release

About

Last Gadget Standing

Last Gadget Standing looks for products that are more than just a flash in the pan. They are products that will endure and are pioneering the ways in which the digital world will change. Any exhibitor at CES can enter a product into the Last Gadget Standing competition--though it must be a device, not a service or software. Products need to have shipped during 2012 or be available for shipping by the end of Q2 of 2013. We honor NDAs and we reserve two spaces for products that have winner potential but won't be announced until the show.

Special Hosts

We're extremely lucky this year to have Gary "Bababooey" Dell'Abate and Jon Hein, of the Howard Stern Wrap Up Show to emcee the Last Gadget Standing . They love products and they love the CES crowd.
