I’m curious if this product kills battery life. Many phones will continually search for a signal and kill the battery.

The website explains in FAQ that most of the newer phones go into a standby mode after having no signal for a short period of time.
Hopefully people start using this product. It seems to me that it will save lives from people texting and driving. Not to mention all of it’s other benefits.

MIA-mobi website says under FAQ that most new phones go into a standby mode after a short period of time when no signal is detected. Which stops the the battery from draining.

This is a problem looking for a solution. The vast majority of smartphones have an “airplane mode” that turns off all wireless connections. If you don’t know how to turn on airplane mode on your phone, RTFM. Also, I doubt that germy phones present any health risk since they’re all the user’s germs.

Hi my name Randy Zar and I am one of the owners of MIAmobi. I would like to respond to comment from Xenobio. There over 300,000 mobile app developed for smartphones. Many of which are stealth or ease dropping on your every move and more. It is well known that there is code that can turn on any functions on your phone mic, camera, GPS, address book and more, even when it is in the off or airplane mode. The only way around this is to either take out the battery or smash the dam thing. By the way you can’t take the battery out in some of the most popular smartphones.
So If you want to know for sure that you are secure from Wi-Fi or communications there is only one way that is to block all RF to your mobile device or any RF coming out of it! It is that simple.
But we don’t all have to be worried about that do we. The conveyance of instantly silencing your phone or putting the phone away when getting in your car without having to powering it down. (out of site out of mine) may save a few lives in 2012.
As far as germs go it is well documented that one in six phones have e coli on them not to mention all the viruses we come in contact with so a little sanitation cannot hurt.

I hate getting ads directly connected to where I have been shopping. Is that called phishing my phone.? the Miamobi stops that? Can my laptop be phished (if that is the right word) when I am walking around with it in my purse? Is that why you have the bigger pocket?Oh yes I would certainly like germs killed on my laptop when I have had it at Starbucks or wherever. Thanks!

This will be a great product to use. Sometimes I place my phone on Silent or Vibrate when I have meetings. At times I forget that it is in silent mode and I miss messages and calls. Powering off and on phones takes time, placing in pocket device would save time. Look forward to seeing this available soon.

I have used the product and it works! It is an easy way to quickly silence your phone when you are driving or anywhere, anytime you want a break. Also my toddler is probably the biggest user of my iPhone so being able to sanitize the thing is pretty important!

About

Last Gadget Standing

The Last Gadget Standing looks for products that are more than just a flash in the pan. They are products that will endure and are pioneering the ways in which the digital world will change. Any exhibitor at CES can enter a product into the Last Gadget Standing – though it must be a , not a service or software. Products need to have shipped during 2011 or be available for shipping by the end of Q2 of 2012. We honor NDAs and we reserve two spaces for products that have winner potential but won’t be announced until the show.

Old timers, sorry, but we’ve had to include a small entrée fee this year to cover the costs of the production and space. There is a $500 entry fee.

How We Judge Your Products

Our panel of expert judges have multiple years of expertise in reviewing products. Judges include Michael Miller, Harry McCracken, Dan Costa, Mellissa Perenson, and Joanna Stern. Our experts review your applications and narrow the list down to 25 semi-finalists. Each product submitted gets a description on the website and readers are welcome to comment. The judges will write reviews of the 25 semifinalists and we’ll continue to solicit reader comments until we narrow the list down to the Top 10.

The Top Ten finalists are invited to the Vegas stage where we play to a full house. Entertainment and fun are just and important as educating the audience about your product. We encourage you to watch the videos from past years and get a feel for this very different type of event. At the same time that the audience is voting live in Las Vegas we will also be asking our online followers to vote among the same top ten and choose a "people's winner." A press release announcing the winners will go out the moment the show has ended.

Special Host

We’re extremely lucky this year to have Gary “Bababooey” Dell’Abate and Jon Hein, of the Howard Stern Wrap Up Show to emcee the Last Gadget Standing . They love products and they love the CES crowd.
