The ultimate sport headphone is here. Via an unparalleled ear-free design and patent pending bone conduction technology normally reserved expressly for military special ops, AfterShokz Sport headphones offer consumers the benefit of comfortable, healthy and safe transmission of sound. In addition to the discomfort that conventional headphones are known to cause when worn at length, scientific studies have found that extended use of such headphones and earbuds promote hearing loss and damage to the eardrum. Bone conduction technology passes high fidelity, stereo quality sound, directly through the skull to the inner ear. Since AfterShokz headphones don’t use the eardrums to transmit sound, they provide unrivaled comfort and a quality listening experience without the risk of eardrum damage.

Perhaps most importantly, AfterShokz Sport headphones enable the completely safe use of portable music players during outdoor activity. Designed so the ears are never blocked, the user is able to stay aware and connected to surroundings while “plugged in”. AfterShokz Sport headphones curl around and rest on the cheekbone, ensuring ambient noise such as oncoming traffic, car horns, ambulances or other warning sounds are heard, potentially preventing accidents. Headphones that cover the ear and earbuds that nest inside the ear significantly restrict a user’s ability to hear these important sounds. Designed to fit all smart phones, iPhones, iPods, iPads and MP3 players, AfterShokz Sport headphones are lightweight, sweat and water resistant, feature in-line controls and come with a lifetime warranty. Thanks to harnessing the power of bone conduction technology in a unique way, no other brand can match the comfort and peace of mind of AfterShokz.

Sport earbuds are a dime a dozen, but headphones that are designed specifically so outdoor exercise fiends can hear what’s going on around them? Not as common. AfterShockz Sports don’t only use bone conduction technology to pass sound through the skull to the inner ear (nope, you don’t actually put these in your ear), but they allow you to hear that ambulance or honking as you are running across the street. They also meet the military MIL10 specs making them extremely durable. Not too bad for just $60.

What we liked: Comfortable, safe, durable, affordable

What we didn’t: Limited designs

Last Gadget Standing

Last Gadget Standing looks for products that are more than just a flash in the pan. They are products that will endure and are pioneering the ways in which the digital world will change. Any exhibitor at CES can enter a product into the Last Gadget Standing competition--though it must be a device, not a service or software. Products need to have shipped during 2012 or be available for shipping by the end of Q2 of 2013. We honor NDAs and we reserve two spaces for products that have winner potential but won't be announced until the show.

Special Hosts

We're extremely lucky this year to have Gary "Bababooey" Dell'Abate and Jon Hein, of the Howard Stern Wrap Up Show to emcee the Last Gadget Standing . They love products and they love the CES crowd.
