Top 25TOP 25 - Phone? Tablet? Best of both. The Samsung Galaxy Note® II enables unique experiences in personalized and expressive content creation with its superb viewing experience, enhanced S Pen™ functionality and multitasking capabilities, making it the ultimate smartphone for on-the-go creativity and productivity.

In 2011, Samsung revolutionized the smartphone category with the introduction of the original Galaxy Note. One year later we’ve taken the large smartphone category to whole new levels that can’t be matched by competitors. The Galaxy Note II’s HD Super AMOLED™ touchscreen is a beautiful 5.5 inches, but thanks to a narrow bezel on all four sides of the screen, the Galaxy Note II is still very manageable in one hand. The Galaxy Note family brings analog and digital together in perfect harmony. You can physically sign your signature at the end of an email with the S Pen and then send it with a finger tap on the screen, all on a display that is optimized to support the 16:9 aspect ratio, the standard for true HD video viewing.

At the heart of the Galaxy Note II is the ability to create and collaborate using the S Pen™, which has been ergonomically redesigned to provide a more precise and natural writing and drawing experience. The new S Pen can sense 1,024 levels of pressure sensitivity and provides the ability to capture ideas, inspiration and information instantly. With the Galaxy Note II, you can combine handwriting with any digital content directly on the screen, such as adding new calendar appointments by writing event details directly on the day of the week, signing a document with your own signature, or adding handwritten notes to an email.

S Pen also expands versatility of the Galaxy Note II. Air View allows users to hover with the S Pen over an email, image gallery, web page or video to preview the content without having to open it. Pop Up Note lets users open S Note instantly as a pop-up window anywhere on the screen to jot down a quick note during a phone call or other live services.

Galaxy Note II marks the U.S. debut of Samsung’s Exynos™ 1.6 GHz quad-core processor optimized for LTE networks. It has 2GB of internal RAM; and comes with 16GB of onboard file storage and supports up to 64GB of  additional memory with a microSD® card. Collectively these deliver easy multitasking, lightning-fast screen transitions, powerful browser performance and minimal app load time.

The Galaxy Note II is the first Samsung smartphone to launch with Android™ 4.1, Jelly Bean, which brings stunning graphical capabilities and an upgraded Google Now service, including new features such as contextual search. It is also a SAFE-designated device (Samsung for Enterprise), which means it has additional security features to safe-guard sensitive data and communications.

Quite simply, the Galaxy Note II is unlike any other smartphone. With its large screen, it is the perfect device for creation, productivity, and entertainment – all in one and better yet, all at the same time.

Now in its second-generation, the Galaxy Note II blurs the line between phone and mini-tablet. It packs a generously sized high-definition 5.5-inch display. I never felt the phone’s physical size was a detriment when I held it up to my ear to make calls; and that display is a huge asset when Web surfing, doing e-mail, or reading. The biggest point of distinction for this smartphone, though, is its integrated digitizer: That means you can write on the display using Samsung’s S Pen (a slim yet usable one is conveniently stowed inside the phone itself, which makes it simple to jot handwritten notes on-the-go using S Pen-enabled software. Samsung just released its Android Jelly Bean update for the phone. And the best part is you won’t end up with carrier envy: This $299 (on contract) phone is available across all the major carriers. What we liked: Lightweight, lovely and large display, handy pen input. What we didn’t like: Limited app selection that supports S Pen.

Last Gadget Standing

Last Gadget Standing looks for products that are more than just a flash in the pan. They are products that will endure and are pioneering the ways in which the digital world will change. Any exhibitor at CES can enter a product into the Last Gadget Standing competition--though it must be a device, not a service or software. Products need to have shipped during 2012 or be available for shipping by the end of Q2 of 2013. We honor NDAs and we reserve two spaces for products that have winner potential but won't be announced until the show.

Special Hosts

We're extremely lucky this year to have Gary "Bababooey" Dell'Abate and Jon Hein, of the Howard Stern Wrap Up Show to emcee the Last Gadget Standing . They love products and they love the CES crowd.
