Top 25TOP 25 – The Galaxy Camera™ is the perfect combination of photo technology and mobile device – a completely new kind of camera that doesn’t just capture smiles, it also lets you use voice commands, share images and videos instantly and take full advantage of the Android™ 4.1, Jelly Bean platform. It’s a powerful camera with a familiar, intuitive user interface and access to all your favorite apps from the Google Play™ market. First and foremost, this is a serious camera designed to capture amazing images in almost any situation. The Galaxy Camera features a 4.8-inch HD Super Clear LCD screen, boasts a 21x optical zoom lens and a super-bright 16MP BSI CMOS sensor for shooting high-quality images close up and in low light conditions. But more importantly, Galaxy Camera is the beginning of a brand new product category. In addition to being able to share to social networks and cloud services over Wi-Fi®, consumers can harness the speed and connectivity of AT&T’s wireless network, making the Galaxy Camera the world’s first camera to work on a wireless carrier’s network. You can easily share images and videos between Galaxy Camera and a range of Galaxy™ devices including the Galaxy S® III and Galaxy Note® II using Wi-Fi Direct technology. For busy individuals on-the-go that means the ability to share your photos instantly. You no longer have to remember to transfer files to the computer and then send them as an attachment to your friends. You can take a great picture of someone and email it to them and post it on Facebook immediately. You can take a great action shot of your children at a soccer game and share it with their grandparents right away. The Galaxy Camera is a perfect fit for those who wish to shoot, edit and share brilliant photographs and video easily and quickly without connecting to a laptop or PC. Powered by a quad-core 1 GHz processor, the Galaxy Camera has quick and responsive performance ensuring you can capture the shots you want. The camera offers three shooting modes, Auto, Smart, and Expert. Auto Mode allows for easy point-and-shoot settings. You can even apply filters right in the camera app cutting out steps and saving you time. Smart Pro allows you to toggle through a series of pre-set options that simplify the process for taking professional-grade images. This includes a setting for specifically taking pictures of flowing water, called “Waterfall.” Another feature is “Best Face” which takes a series of pictures of a group and allows you to select the best face for each person, before merging everything into one perfect photo. You’ll take beautiful photos and clear, vibrant video with the Galaxy Camera. With Photo Wizard, you can edit those photos right in the camera – adjust brightness and color, add effects, crop and more. And with Video Editor, you can delete and rearrange scenes, add music and insert text. These are precision tools that make sure the photos and videos you share are exactly as you like them

JUDGES REVIEW

In our always connected world, sometimes it’s not enough for a picture to simply be captured and stored in stasis on a memory card. Think of the Galaxy Camera as the ultimate mashup between a Samsung Galaxy cell phone and one of the company’s point-and-shoot cameras: The front looks like a typical camera, but the back side has a crisp 4.8-inch touchscreen. You get full Android 4.1 Jelly Bean inside, and with it comes support for your favorite Android social media and image manipulation apps, as well as for email and Web browsing, too. However, the camera functionality looks nothing like what you’d see on a cell phone, and it’s designed to take full advantage of that 23mm wide angle lens and 21x optical zoom. Available only via AT&T, at $500 you’re paying a premium for that freedom.

What we liked: Nifty camera interface, easy connectivity.

What we didn’t like: The sensor inside isn’t on a par with this camera’s lofty price.

About

Last Gadget Standing

Last Gadget Standing looks for products that are more than just a flash in the pan. They are products that will endure and are pioneering the ways in which the digital world will change. Any exhibitor at CES can enter a product into the Last Gadget Standing competition--though it must be a device, not a service or software. Products need to have shipped during 2012 or be available for shipping by the end of Q2 of 2013. We honor NDAs and we reserve two spaces for products that have winner potential but won't be announced until the show.

Special Hosts

We're extremely lucky this year to have Gary "Bababooey" Dell'Abate and Jon Hein, of the Howard Stern Wrap Up Show to emcee the Last Gadget Standing . They love products and they love the CES crowd.
